How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.
~Anne Frank

If you are a law student and would like to volunteer with an organization through Pro Bono Students Canada at UBC, please follow these steps:

1. Visit our booth at clubs day during the first week of school to check out the placements for the coming year.

2. Attend the first meeting of PBSC UBC to get additional information on the program, to review the project descriptions in depth and to complete the application forms.

3. If you are unable to make it to clubs day or attend the meeting, look at the "Our Partners" and "Placement Descriptions" pages under "About PBSC at UBC" and pick some organizations or projects you would be interested in working with/on.

4. Fill out a Student Application and Student Agreement (found at the bottom of this page) and drop them off at our office, room 107 in Annex 1 or email them to us at ubc@probonostudents.ca

5. You will then be matched with an organization and informed of your placement during the second week of classes in September.

6. After meeting with your organization and supervising lawyer, you will submit a workplan to the student coordinators.

7. During your placement, we will require one update each semester by email.  However, you can feel free to use us as a resource anytime.

8. When you are finished your placement, you are required to complete an evaluation form which will be emailed to you in the final month of your project.

Other PBSC events are also planned - we will send you more details as they approach.

*Hint*

A common problem that coordinators face when matching students is a lack of information included on the application form.  We are more likely to give a student their top choice of placement if they are specific about their experience and explain their preferences.
